How Does Performance
Gold Diesel Work?
Performance Gold, an "additized" premium diesel, is formulated to eliminate
engine deposits that reduce performance and increase emissions. Unlike
"splash-blended" additives, Performance Gold is electronically injected at
the distribution terminal, so every gallon is uniformly and reliably blended.
How Does Performance
Gold Compare for Power and Performance?
Performance Gold offers a 5% increase in fuel economy and power versus
typical #2 diesel[1], a high cetane number (45-48), a lubricity rating of
4800 grams (well above engine manufacturers' standards and warranty
requirements), and an "A" rating for corrosion protection.
What are
the Environmental Benefits of Performance Gold Diesel?
Performance Gold reduces particulates and ozone-forming emissions compared to
typical #2 diesel[2]. Specifically, using Performance Gold results in 20% lower
VOC and carbon monoxide emissions, 15% fewer particulates,
and 5% less NOx. Performance Gold also produces 30% less smoke.
Why is
Lowering Truck Emissions Important?
Many metropolitan areas where Performance Gold is available has seen air
pollution increase toward regulatory limits. If the area is declared
"non-attainment" for air pollutants, the area can lose federal highway and road
funding.
Can I get the
same Environmental Benefits in my Off-Road Vehicles?
Yes. Performance Gold is also recommended for off-road diesel vehicles,
diesel generators, and other equipment that uses diesel fuel. If you've been
using high-sulfur diesel in your off-road vehicles, you'll get reduced wear and
longer engine component life with Performance Gold, as well as decreased sulfur
emissions.
What about Older
Trucks in my Fleet?
Used consistently, Performance Gold will remove deposits from the engines of
older trucks, improving fuel economy significantly. In tests with older trucks,
using Performance Gold increased fuel economy significantly while returning
performance to "like-new" levels.
What will these
Benefits Cost Me?
Performance Gold typically increases fuel economy by 5%[2], which is equivalent
to a 5 or 6 cents per gallon savings. Since Performance Gold only costs 2 to 3
cents more per gallon, using it will typically reduce your overall fuel costs.
[1] Based on independent tests. Regular use can provide 5% better
mileage and power compared to typical #2 diesel. Actual results may vary.
